This morning, as I pulled out of the motel parking lot in Raton, NM, the skies were clear in every direction. Heading north into Colorado, I sought out the Speed Cemetery, but it had no signage. It looked to be a single grave stone that sat electric fenced on a hill about 150 yards off the road. I continued north through Denver and on out the northwest side on the Boulder highway to the small bedroom community of Superior. And the Superior Cemetery. No longer used, the cemetery trustees got serious about fencing it in. While the sign is small, it does identify that this is indeed the Superior Cemetery. Maybe those cemetery commissioners didn’t want anyone escaping. By now the skies are beginning to cloud up and it’s getting very dark in the northwest. Not too long afterwards, it began to rain. I was making my way to Dillon so I could turn south to make my way towards Gunnison. The weather slowed me down a bit and I only made it as far a Buena Vista. Out of Denver you have little choice other than I-70, and it climbs steadily upward. I always take option of US6 over Loveland Pass (11,990 feet) rather than the Eisenhower tunnel. I firmly believe it is a very rare pleasure to drive your vehicle on firm ground over two miles above sea level. There was a fresh smattering of snow up above tree line. In the morning, I plan to drive up and over Cottonwood Pass to find the Tin Cup Cemetery. From there, I will head down to Lake City and then drive over Engineering Pass (which is well over 12,000 feet) which will take me past Animas into Silverton. That’s the fastest and most fun way to move westward towards La Plata County. I have driven most of these roads 4-5 times over the past 20 years. It is some of the best fun I can have. Oh, yes, that's my supper ---

Hey, Frank!

Great "pitchers"--I can't wait to see the B&W. Superior Cemetery looks more like a military installation. IOW, "overkill." Do you think the local fencing contractor could be the mayor's brother?
