ANOTHER KIND OF OLD PLACE 12

If you have been reading this blog since early last summer, you know that I have a passion for cemeteries with odd and unusal, ironic names. To me, these places represent a passing phase of our culture when we didn't take everything so serious, and perhaps laugh a bit more at our common plight. Heading west out of Plainview, Texas on US70 there is evidence that there were once places called 1/4 Way and 3/4 Way, but seems that Halfway actually survived as a community. Other than the Halfway Cemetery, there are a couple of houses, and several big grain storage tanks along beside the railroad. Funny thing, if you record the distance from Plainview to Halfway, and this drive that much further beyond Halfway to the west, there is nothing but miles and miles of more miles and miles. Go figure.
