Goodnight Cemetery, Armstrong County, Texas 12 March 2011
Most people outside of Texas, and many of those current residents of parts other than the Panhandle have never heard of the Goodnights. However, fans of Larry McMurtry's books, (Lonesome Dove, Streets of Larado, etc.) will recognize the name. He was a real person and is legend in that country. McMurtry was very familiar with the area and legends being a native son of Archer City, Texas. People today still pay their respects to the Goodnights by tying bandannas to fence surrounding the Goodnight plot.
