In central Kansas, June 22, 2007For all of you who were waiting with bated breath, well.....I fell asleep at the computer last evening. It was almost 9 p.m. before I got in my room. Got take-out -- a spinach/shrimp salad and ate while answering mail. I was evidently more tired than I thought. Maybe Margarite had something to do with it. As you can tell my the images, I'm fully engaged in the great plains. It is very flat and there is wheat everywhere. The wheat farmers have just started their harvest and combines are busy in many fields. Fields may not be the proper term because farmers in these parts talk about how many "sections" of wheat they have to bring in. (one section is one square mile) My last image of the day was the Nickel Cemetery. Listed in the GNIS data base as the "Nickle Cemetery," the carved stone sign at the base of the flag pole spells it "Nickel" and a number grave stones spelled it "Nickol" -- wonder which is right?

Beautiful skies over those fields of grain. Isn't there a song something about that.
Looks like the trip is being very productive. But are you adding any Main Streets along the way?
I think that I became overwhelmed with Main Streets, and circumstances in the early '90's kinda' lead me away from doing anymore. I have sinced moved on to other projects....such as cemeteries. Actually cemeteries was started before Main Street. This trip will probably be the end of the shooting of cemeteries unless I just happen on to one I don't already have. It is so travel intensive, so expensive. At least part of this trip is being paid for by the sale of one print at the recent showing of the work.
