This time of year, especially after the first snowfall, I begin to long for the high dry coolness of the desert southwest. I have made many, many trips to the Big Bend country of West Texas over the past 30+ years. Getting the feeling it's time to go again. January and Feburary are the months I prefer mostly because that's when there are fewer people in Big Bend National Park. For now, I'll have to settle for a few images from some new scans. I had never seen a print made from this negative until yesterday. I'm not sure I've ever tried printing it before as a C-print, and my working long and hard on it as a inkjet pigment print sorta' tells me why I never tried it in "the old days." This image was made in 1988 where the Rio Grande River exits St. Elena Canyon -- Mexico on the left, US/Texas on the right.

So peaceful, so beautiful. I've never seen this view of the Canyon before.
