EMPTY SWINGS

Not too long after I made this image in New Egypt, NJ, in the spring of 1988, I ran across this short poem by 14-year-old Sandra Hutchins:

The wind blows
Against the empty swings
To tell of sadness
For its children.

I love this format. Yes, you definitely have to do some more of this work.

btw, I have a couple of empty swing pictures made with the Holga and the poem is great. I love to photograph empty playground equipment and I've always felt a sadness about the playgrounds and yet been drawn to them.
