MY NEW TOY...

Adam Eckburg and Stephen DiRado

I made these images last evening at our usual gathering on Tuesday evenings at Stephen's house. In the past, I have expounded on the wonders of the Canon 5D2 and IS lenses. But the images above where shot with my new Canon G11. I gave it to myself as a Christmas present. (Ellen gave me a Bose Companion 3 speaker system for my desktop.) I'm still trying to figure the best way to make use of the new camera's many features, but will probably continue to shoot it in full manual mode because they way they have it set-up, it's really easy. No, I didn't shoot these images in a B&W mode, that was done in Photoshop. I had considered two choices in pocketable cameras: the G11 or the Canon S90. They both have the same sensor and will pretty much make the same image, however, the S90 is so tiny and my hands are so big. Just could not hold that tiny camera without fear of dropping it. Nothing to hold on to. I'm not sure if the higher ISO's will be usable, the above images were shot at ISO 400. I need to experiment more with ISO 800, but I know for sure that ISO 1600 and 3200 are not usable in my book.
