Summer Travels VIII

Steel's Tavern, Virginia 17 July 2010

For the past 10 years or so, every time I see an old "use to be" gas station I have to make an image. I guess I feel it's because an era has passed, and these lonely pumps, for me, represent a time when gas was cheap. The open road called and I answered with many trips across the western United States. It's sort of a romantic ideal I have who we once were as a culture.

It also remiinds me that people used to make things with they looked in mind. Instead of now, they just want things to look modern. Great photo! Old is good
