- I have been photographing for more than 45 years first working as supervisor for yearbook and college newspaper. Later I headed the photography department for the News Service at UTAustin. In 1979, I became a Dobie-Paisano Fellow and began to follow a career in freelance and doing my own personal work. My wife's career pulled us out of Texas for the east coast finally winding up in central Massachusetts. Now in my 76th year, I teach both digital and wet darkroom at a small liberal arts university in Worcester, MA. I shoot these cameras and formats: 8x10 - Kodak MasterView: 4x5 - Wista, Ebony, Cambo: 6x7 - Pentax: Digital - Canon 5D MK-II

Sad, but a part of the deal...
On our recent trip we saw 5 coyotes and several skunks that were roadkill. It seemed like more than normal. The texture, colors and water droplets all combine to make this one a nice pic.
I was sorta' surprised how the bird blended to the exposed gravel cement where I found it. It had been heavily misting all day. I was at my desk outside the darkrooms and a student came in and said there was a dead bird just outside the door. Grabbed the camera and a tripod -- just lucky that I had my new Canon 100mm 2.8 L IS macro with me that day.
